The Toyota FJ Cruiser is a body-on-frame 4x4 built by Hino Motors in Hamura, Japan, on the Land Cruiser Prado platform. Powered by the 1GR-FE 4.0L V6 producing 239 hp (US specification), it was offered with a 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual gearbox and Toyota's A-TRAC active traction control system — a system that effectively mimics a locking differential for off-road capability. Designed as a modern tribute to the FJ40 Land Cruiser, with rear-hinged back doors, three windshield wipers, and the Toyota name spelled out across the grille, the FJ Cruiser was never officially sold in Europe.
